2012 dodge charger review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. An unequivocally american muscle car. introductionit's as if nobody told dodge about american cars: that they are cheap, flimsy, incompetent. To the contrary, the dodge charger is a proudly american muscle sedan, pumped, powerful, and full of swagger. Without effort, it meets that challenge and welcomes the battle. The charger is proof that american carmakers have learned that they can no longer market shoddy design and haphazard assembly. To that end, the dodge charger is a proud product of the new detroit. It's handsomely designed and has world-class fit and finish. From crankshaft to door handles, everything operates with fine precision and the promise of long-lasting service.  the dodge charger was redesigned for the 2011 model year, and there are no significant changes for the 2012 charger except that a new 2012 dodge charger srt8 has been added to the model lineup. The 2012 charger is the second year of the second generation of the modern charger. The first generation ran 2006-2010. The original was launched as a '66. The general lee bo and luke duke drove was a '69.  from the outside, this second-generation charger looks a lot like an older rendering of the american sedan, but that appearance is misleading. The retro look is a self-confident exercise in sinuous american styling.  the interior, however, is anything but old style. A first-rate, 8. 4-inch touch-screen navigation system is coupled with a rearview camera and ancillary controls for climate and audio. The latest navigation system is sensationally intuitive, transparent, and pleasing to use, among the best we've seen. It's very easy to read and very easy to understand. Underscoring this user-friendliness, the charger's audio controls for volume and tuning are accomplished with old-fashioned, practical radial knobs: what a concept! German luxury brands costing vastly more could learn from the charger's straightforward controls.  nothing else is more happily apparent in the new dodge charger than that chrysler has enthusiastically embraced the new design and quality standards dictated by detroit's recent, painful bailouts. They must build better cars at lower prices than the competition. V6 chargers earn a stellar 31 mpg highway.  the 2012 dodge charger is the classic combination: a full-size detroit sedan with strong performance and unmistakable american looks, selling at a surprisingly attractive price. Compared with the full-size dodge sedan of 20 or 30 years ago, a 2012 charger will reward the owner with exciting styling, world-class engineering and impressive value. Connectivity group for sxt 395) includes voice command with bluetooth, auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls and leather-wrapped shift knob. Charger r/t 29,995) features the 5. 7-liter 370-bhp hemi v8 with decel fuel shut off (dfso). Adaptive cruise control group for sxt plus, r/t plus, and r/t road & track 925) adds forward collision warning with adaptive cruise control and heated steering wheel. Navigation group 795) includes voice command with garmin navi, sirius traffic, sirius travel link, and parking view rear backup camera.  safety features on all dodge chargers includes electronic traction control (tcs), electronic stability control (esc), anti-lock brakes (abs), electronic brake distribution (ebd), brake assist, rain brake support, hill-start assist, automatic headlamps, active front head restraints, all federally mandated airbags (seven), front seatbelt pretensioners, lower anchors and tethers for children (latch), occupant restraint controller. Available all-wheel drive can improve handling stability in adverse conditions, and the available rearview camera can help the driver spot a child behind the car when backing up. walkaroundthis latest-generation dodge charger is immediately recognizable. The front says it's a dodge, a design theme that began life on, of all things, the upright first-generation dodge ram pickup truck. The two vehicles could not be more different, yet the aggressive, muscular cruciform grille suits both perfectly. Achieving that kind of unmistakable model-line identity is no small achievement.  in like manner, the tail of the charger uses the same array of full-width taillamps made famous on the charger in the '60s. It's a handsome look that is instantly recognizable to anyone familiar with historic dodge styling cues. The charger expresses pride in where dodge, chrysler corporation, and for that matter, all american cars have been during the last few turbulent decades.  the body of the second-generation modern charger is crisply styled throughout. It is considerably edgier and more muscular than its immediate predecessor, which had great promise but was, by comparison, a bit of a lump. Along the sides of the car are slanting, angular indentations that echo the racy rear-facing engine-room vents made so famous on the all-conquering dodge viper supercar. In the charger, these are unmistakably bad looking in all of the right street-savvy ways.  continuing this street look, in profile, the car's dramatically low roofline tapers downward rapidly at the car's mid-point. In combination with its high waistline and compressed greenhouse, the car expresses a secretive, almost hot-rod chopped appearance. Occupants seem to peer outward from sinister gun slit-like windows. Yet for all of its hunched-over appearance, the occupants' outward visibility is quite good enough.  when the charger's dynamic outward appearance is combined with its strong performance, this is an american muscle sedan with the credentials to appeal to a broad range of tastes. interiorexamining the charger's interior, we started in the back seat to investigate just how limited seating room might be underneath this low roofline. Inevitably, tall backseat passengers will have to scrunch down a little, though moderately tall riders will be just fine. The rear cabin is comfortable and roomy without being huge. The top of the backlight has multi-linear applique black stripes, providing a bit of shade from the sun and simultaneously creating the impression from outside that the rear window is even lower and more hooded.  the rear seat is firm and supportive, with a fairly hard back-cushion. A central pull-down elbow rest contains two cup holde. Power Windows✔ Anti-lock Brakes✔ Power Mirrors✔ Power Locks✔ Cruise Control✔ Backup Camera✔ Navigation System✔ Remote Start✔ Bluetooth

2013 toyota yaris review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Versatile, reliable subcompact hatch. introductionthe toyota yaris is a five-seat, subcompact car available as either a three-door or five-door hatchback. Yaris touts utility, able handling and a simple design.  yaris was completely redesigned for the 2012 model year. For 2013, yaris gets only minor changes to the lineup of standard features. The base yaris l and the top-line, sport-tuned yaris se come standard with a 5-speed manual gearbox. A 0. 29 coefficient of drag helps yaris slip through the air.  fuel economy is an epa-estimated 30/37 mpg city/highway with the 5-speed manual transmission, 30/36 mpg with the 4-speed automatic. These numbers are average for the subcompact class.  electric power steering on the yaris results in good road feel without losing easy low-speed maneuvering for parking in tight spaces. The suspension consists of macpherson struts in front and torsion beam in back, for a decent ride and tighter corning. Standard wheel size on the l and le models is 15 inches, while the se gets 16-inch wheels and tires.  the yaris se is the hot rod of the lineup, with quicker steering, more expressive styling and a sportier interior. The front seats are as sporty and comfortable as any we've found in the class. The front seats feature toyota's advanced whiplash injury-lessening (wil) design, supporting the upper body from head to lower back. Yaris is gets a top rating of good in frontal-offset, side and roof strength tests from the insurance institute for highway safety, which is supported by the insurance industry.  yaris competes against many attractive and efficient subcompact hatchbacks, including the chevrolet sonic, ford fiesta, honda fit, nissan versa. lineupthe toyota yaris is available as a three-door or five-door hatchback. Base l and mid-level le trims are offered in both body styles, while the sportier se is available only as a five-door. Yaris l 5-door models are available only with the automatic 15,395). Inside there's upgraded cloth upholstery and a leather-trimmed three-spoke tilting steering wheel. walkaroundtoyota yaris was all-new for the 2012 model year, longer, lower and wider than its predecessor.  yaris comes as a three-door or five-door liftback. A sedan version is not available. After decades, it seems the eminently practical hatchback/liftback body style is starting to prevail over the smoother looking but less functional compact sedan.  though small, the yaris presents an aggressive stance. Yaris features a bold nose and head-on view, with wide headlamps and integrated turn signals. The side profile shows a steep beltline and curving shoulders that flow to the rear. Yaris's lines are cool enough that in black or gray metallic, it actually looks powerful, in a subcompact sort of way.  the yaris se looks sportier with its wider tires, alloy wheels, spoilers and diffusers, and body-colored touches. interiorwe love the sport seats in the yaris se. The high-quality fabric is rugged and the fit is all-around excellent. The yaris chassis and ride feel solid, and we think the seats have a lot to do with this. There's good legroom in front, 40. 6 inches.  rear-seat roominess is decent for a subcompact, with 33. 3 inches of legroom. The rear bench seat in the yaris l model folds flat with one knob, while the yaris le and se models have a 60/40 split folding rear seat. The instrument lighting glows red at night. The flat-bottom steering wheel stays out of the way of a driver's knees when climbing in and out.  cabin conveniences are especially important in a subcompact, and the yaris has good ones. Climate control knobs are as simple and easy as they come. It's got a roomy glovebox, six cup and bottle holders, door pockets, and cubbies near the shift lever, although no center console between the seats, where the emergency brake lever is located.  the audio system uses small buttons and icons, and we found the interface confusing. We also found the reception on the am/fm radio was lousy. The engine isn't buzzy, and there's tons of new sound insulation. driving impressionwe got a chance to drive the yaris in the snow, and it performed well. Traction was better than we expected up a steep slippery street, and anti-lock brakes delivered security on the way back down.  secure and solid would be good ways to describe the toyota yaris. It's not big on the outside, it's not as quick and sporty feeling as the lightweight mazda2 or the ford fiesta, and it doesn't have the exciting jackrabbit throttle response of the mazda; but the yaris handling is lively enough, while feeling a bit more substantial.  the ride is solid, too: comfortably firm, not comfortably soft. Its 106 hp is enough for everyday driving, and the 103 pound-feet of torque is available over a broad range peaking at 4200 rpm. A broad torque curve means responsiveness when driving around town.  uphill at 80 it was hungry for more, not straining. Toyota has done an excellent job with the yaris's aerodynamics and sound insulation.  we loved the 5-speed manual gearbox. It shifted quick and tight. Unfortunately, we have to wonder if the 4-speed automatic is outdated nowadays, considering most automakers are using at least 6 speeds for improved power management and fuel efficiency. summarya quiet ride, lively and secure cornering, great seats and attractive interior help make the yaris a competitive subcompact hatch.  sam moses filed this newcartestdrive. Com report after his test drive of the yaris in the columbia river gorge; laura burstein reported from los angeles. model lineup2013 toyota yaris 3-door liftback l 14,370); y.

2009 chevrolet hhr review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Utility and efficiency with style. introductionthe chevrolet hhr is a car-based retro-wagon that celebrates its chevy heritage with styling inspired by the iconic 1949 suburban. Hhr stands for heritage high roof, a reference to the early high-roofed suburbans and panel wagons that inspired its design.  based on the same platform as the chevrolet cobalt, the hhr was first launched as a 2006 model. The hhr is similar in concept to the chrysler pt cruiser.  we found the chevy hhr fun to drive. It isn't a sports car, but it's nimble and we were pleased with its acceleration. The hhr feels more responsive than its horsepower, torque, and transmission ratio numbers suggest. Plus, it gets decent fuel economy.  the hhr panel van features smooth, windowless side panels and side cargo doors with no handles. The cargo doors open via an instrument panel button. While it's plainer inside and provides seating for only two, the panel best exemplifies the early suburban heritage.  the hhr ss is the most fun to drive of the hhr models, launching quickly off the line and offering sharp handling. On an autocross circuit, we found the ss model handled like a sports car.  the hhr interior isn't as functional as we'd like, however, and the base cloth fabric left us wishing we'd ordered the optional leather.  the 2009 hhr is unchanged in any major way over the previous model, but there are numerous detail changes and upgrades. Standard on all 2009 hhr models are xm satellite radio, anti-lock brakes, stabilitrak vehicle stability control system with traction control, and roof-rail side-curtain airbags. The 2. 2-liter engine delivers more power and better fuel economy for 2009, and there is e85 flexfuel capability on the 2. 2-liter and 2. 4-liter engines. Options for the ls include remote start, the automatic transmission 1,000), running boards, a spoiler, and a variety of other factory and dealer-installed features and accessories.  the hhr lt 20,720) adds remote start as standard, an eight-way power driver's seat, driver's lumbar support, and the availability of many more optional extras, including a bright chrome appearance package, which includes 16-inch chrome alloy wheels, and the sun and fun edition, which includes sunroof and the 16-inch wheels.  the hhr 2lt adds the lt equipment group 1,700), which includes the 2. 4-liter engine, 17-inch chrome alloy wheels, fog lamps, running boards, fe3 sport suspension, bluetooth connectivity, leather-wrapped steering wheel, auto-dimming mirror, and a pioneer audio system with seven speakers and 260 watts.  the hhr ss 24,815) adds the turbocharged engine, performance handling suspension, 18-inch polished alloy wheels, ss embroidered seats, a rear spoiler, and other items. Optional on the ss is the performance package 895).  the hhr panel comes in ls 19,030), lt 21,030), and ss 25,135) versions. Options and prices for the panel are the same as for the equivalent levels of the non-panel versions.  safety features include front airbags, front and rear side-curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes, stabilitrak electronic stability control with traction control, and tire-pressure monitoring. walkaroundwe like the retrospective styling of the chevy hhr. The closest comparison is the chrysler pt cruiser, another retro-styled utility vehicle with good fuel efficiency.  the rounded nose of the hhr is not unlike chevy's ssr, which also reflects the brand's truck heritage. The hhr's fenders are well defined, with flat side wheel-well openings contrasting favorably with the vehicle's many curved, contemporary sculpted surfaces. Front and rear bumpers and fog lamps are integrated into seamless fascia, with nostalgic integrated running boards. The flush glass all around, including the windshield, is a nice touch, as are the headlights surrounded by body panels in old school fashion. The taillamp treatment consists of two round vertically stacked lenses on each side. The large, prominent grille is chrome, (except on the ss model), and appears much like that of the 1949 suburban.  front and rear bumpers are molded from composite material, integrated as part of their respective fascia. It provides lots of room and functionality without being boxy. When viewed from a distance, the hhr looks larger than it really is. Examined closely, it's compact. The cargo doors open wide, enabling cargo access from both sides of the vehicle, as well as from the rear liftgate. The cargo doors are smooth and don't have external handles; they are opened via a dashboard release button or the remote keyless entry fob. The large, continuous area created by the windowless cargo doors and rear panels is ideal for business logos, advertising or personalization. Side visibility is obviously limited due to the solid sides without windows; one must rely primarily on mirrors for backing maneuvers. The smooth, windowless sides on the panel give it a cleaner, retro, more hot rod look than the standard models. The lack of windows adds security for contents inside.  the hhr ss sits lower than its stable mates, but sports extended front and rear fascias that give it the appearance of riding much lower. The front fascia features an air-dam design with integrated fog lights, and the grille comes with mesh-style upper and lower grille inserts. The new rear fascia provides a cutout for a single bright exhaust tip. Rocker moldings somewhat resemble accentuated running boards. Out back, a rear spoiler is mounted above the rear glass. Body-color door handles, mirror caps and the rear license plate surround, along with ss badging on the front doors and liftgate, further differentiate the ss from the others. interiorinside, the chevy hhr provides, for the most part, comfortable and functional surroundings. Included are durable, easy-to-clean cargo surfaces, a front passenger seat that folds flat for more cargo space, a 60/40 split/fold-flat second-row seat, and a multi-position cargo package tray in the rear that provides cargo security. Speaking of headroom, there isn't a lot of it, in spite of the high roof. There's a handy flip-up compartment on top of the dash and a small glovebox. The rear provides one cupholder and small door pockets. The rear seat, split 60/40, folds flat very easily, as does the front passenger seat, and, since the 60-percent side of the rear seat is on the left, a long item like a ladder can be slipped in diagonally, a nice feature. The rear cargo floor flips up to reveal a five-inch-deep tray useful for storage. The rear liftgate is one piece and raises easily.  the hhr panel provides seating for two and a large, flat cargo floor with tie-down points to help hold things in place. The hhr panel cargo area features a standard auxiliary power outlet, as well as a 40-amp auxiliary power connector to provide service for a variety of specialty equipment needs. Two large storage compartments, with a lockable option, are located forward under the cargo floor (in place of the rear seats of the passenger models). The compartments offer security for things such as computer equipment, flashlights, service manuals and other valuables.  the hhr ss features a special interior with ss-embroidered sport seats with inserts, a specific gauge cluster, an a-pillar-mounted turbo boost gauge and a new shifter arrangement.

2009 acura tsx review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. All-new sport-luxury sedan. introductionwith the 2009 tsx, acura has done a full remake of its entry-luxury level sedan. More than just bolting a slick new body on an old platform, the tsx is new from the ground up, as in, longer, wider and lower. In a couple measures, it's roomier, too.  technology is what sets the new tsx apart. Acura's superb navigation system comes standard and can be operated using voice-recognition. The standard navigation system is the equal of anything in the class, while an optional system displays real-time traffic with congestion re-routing and local and national weather. The top-line audio system sets a standard for the class, too, with superbly crisp surround sound. It comes with one engine, a 2. 4-liter inline-4, and a choice of transmissions, a six-speed manual and a five-speed sportshift sequential automatic. Although horsepower is off slightly, torque is increased by enough to make up any difference in sheer acceleration. Just as important, fuel economy is unchanged with the manual and improved with the automatic. The tsx stays with a front-wheel-drive configuration, whereas true sporty sedans are rear-wheel drive. That said, the tsx is one of the better-handling front-wheel-drive sedans and in its class, hard to beat as an everyday driver that can still be fun on a mountain road.  styling stays true to acura themes for 2009, but cleans up here and there to give the car a more aggressive, more buff look and to emphasize its more planted stance. The wider part, where it adds a couple inches between the wheels side to side, translates directly into a sportier driving feel.  everything inside that matters is powered, including the adjustments on both front seats. Dual-zone climate control and heated seats and outside mirrors are standard. The navigation system adds a rearview camera, acuralink real-time traffic (in 76 major metropolitan markets) with dynamic re-routing, acuralink weather and acuralink satellite communication system.  acura-approved, interior and exterior accessories are available from dealers. For inside, the list includes dark metallic and titian silver interior trim kits, trunk tray, trunk hooks, cargo organizer, and cargo net. Among those for the outside are 18-inch, 10-spoke, chrome-look or ebony-finish alloy wheels to replace the stock 17-inch aluminum alloys; backup sensor; wheel locks; sport bumper kit; rear bumper applique; deck lid spoiler or wing spoiler; moonroof visor; car cover; and nose mask.  safety features include a full complement of airbags to protect occupants front and rear in frontal and side impact crashes. Rear outboard seats provide anchors (latch) for child safety seats. Antilock brakes let the driver steer the car during emergency stops, brake assist boosts initial brake pressure in panic stops and electronic brake-force distribution apportions brake application between front and rear to optimize stopping distance. Electronic stability assist, coupled with traction control, adjusts brake and throttle to keep the car going where it's supposed to go through evasive or avoidance maneuvers or when road conditions deteriorate. The '09 tsx is no exception to that rule. Although it stretches the mold a bit, as it should, there's still no mistaking it for anything but one of honda's luxury line.  the front end nicely blends elements from acura's other two sedans, the sporty tl and the more serious rl, and from the mdx sport utility. The headlight housings, for instance, with their squinty lenses curling around the front fenders to reach deep into the arcs of the front wheelwells, look like a direct lift from the tl. The elongated, pentagonal chrome bar topping the similarly outlined grille pulls from both the mdx grille and the single bar slicing across the grille on the current tsx. The gaping lower air intake is a new design cue and shaves visual mass from what might otherwise be an overpowering front bumper while adding function by pumping needed cooling air into the engine compartment and reducing front end lift. Hood sculpting defines the tsx's centerline and front fenders.  the side view departs a bit more from the family look, but keeps just enough of the cues to stay true to its design dna. This is especially evident in the side lenses of the headlight and taillight housings and the silhouette of the trailing lip of the trunk lid, all of which closely mirror the '08 tsx. In much sharper relief, though, are the sculpted character lines in the door panels. These add visual bulk and combine with edgy wheel arches remindful, again, of the mdx to make a stronger statement about the car's sporty aspirations. Door handles embedded in the upper crease give the view a cleaner look.  the rear aspect, sad to say, suggests of recent toyota camrys more than of the previous tsx in its overly busy styling. A deeply cut horizontal line slices straight across the rear vertical of the trunk lid, itself looking almost concave against the gently convex vertical of the '08. Taillights bridge the seam between trunk and fenders as before but bracket a license plate recess that's inverted from the '08 tsx, visually pushing the trailing lip higher and seeming to add sheet metal across the lower reaches of the trunk lid. The rear bumper cups the trunk opening with unflattering sedan like bulk, which makes the hot rod-spec dual exhaust tips look a little lame. interiorliking the new acura tsx interior is easy. It's comfortable without being plush, sporty without being sparse. Communication between driver and car is, for the most part, open and easy and unabridged.  the front seats are supportive, with enough side bolstering for reasonably rambunctious motoring on twisty roads. The front seat passenger still gets shortchanged with no height adjustment, which leaves even taller people feeling as if they're sitting in a hole. The three inches tacked onto the tsx's width went mostly to more padding for side impact protection, but front-seat hip room is up by a solid inch.  the rear seat is more like a bench than twin buckets, and space for the lower extremities is snug, measuring by the tape a mere one-tenth of an inch roomier than the '08. This despite the addition of more than two inches to the '09's overall length and almost an inch and a half to its wheelbase. Rear head restraints adjust for height, which is a plus for its occupants, although that even when at their lowest position they obstruct the visibility out the back window from the inside rear view mirror is a minus. The steering wheel sports push buttons and toggles controlling more than a dozen functions, not counting the horn, making it look like it would be just as comfortable in a jet fighter cockpit as in a car. This may be just fine for fighter pilot walter mittys who fantasize about mixing it up with the other side's top guns, but for the rest of us, who just want to drive the car, it's a bit much. The center stack, however, with either the base sound and navigation system or the optional technology package, is one of the more intuitively arranged that we've seen, with large, finger-friendly buttons and a reasonably easy-to-learn multi-function joystick-like knob for the multi-layered information center-cum-map screen. The high-end audio setup does force the relocation of the cd changer down into the bowels of the center stack, where it's not as easily accessed as with the base system, which parks it at the top of the stack, but that's a minor complaint, and one that won't even show up on the technophiles' radar.  storage is more than adequate. Every door has a molded-in space for a water bottle, the front doors room for the proverbial map, although given a navigation system is standard, think guidebook or cds. The glove box has a partitioned nook for the owner's manual and associated booklets, leaving the rest for smallis. 2005 gmc sierra 1500 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Denali luxury now with crew cab room. introductionthe gmc sierra is nearly identical to the chevy silverado but features more mature, restrained styling. With their 5-foot, 8-inch cargo box, sierra crew cabs are no longer than standard-bed, extended-cab models for easier parking and maneuverability. The 1500hd crew cab, which returns for 2005 after a one-year hiatus, can tow up to 10,200 pounds. Even the plush denali tows 8,100 pounds.  yet all sierras deliver a smooth, comfortable ride among the full-size pickups. Even compared to more recently introduced or re-engineered pickups from ford, dodge, and nissan, the sierra rides and handles very well. Although nominally classified as light duty or 'half-ton' trucks, the 1500s offer payloads ranging from 1,215 to 2,040 pounds, and tow ratings from 4,100 up to 9,000 pounds, depending on equipment. That's all the truck most consumers will ever need.  engine choices include a 4. 3-liter v6, 4. 8-liter v8, and 5. 3-liter v8. Available only as a crew cab with a 6-foot-6-inch bed (instead of the standard 1500 crew cab's 5-foot-8-inch bed), the 1500hd hauls 3,073 pounds with 2wd, 2,766 pounds with 4wd, and tows 10,200 pounds. Power is provided by the same 6. 0-liter v8 that's used in the 2500hd/3500; but the 1500hd should ride more smoothly than the heavy-duty trucks.  base models come with abs, air conditioning, cruise control, am/fm/cd audio, an attractive chrome grille molding, a chrome rear step bumper, and 17-inch chromed steel wheels. Carpeting and cloth seats are also standard. Regular and extended cabs are available, but not the crew cab, base prices range from $21,045 to $31,270.  the w/t (work truck) model deletes the cd player, chrome, cruise control and carpeting. These plane-jane trucks are aimed at commercial and municipal fleets, with prices ranging from $18,770 to $29,540.  sle trim adds fog lamps; power windows, mirrors, and door locks; a leather-wrapped steering wheel; overhead console; and other amenities. Leather upholstery is optional. The 4. 8-liter v8 and automatic transmission are standard on regular and extended cabs; crew cabs come with the 5. 3 and automatic. Prices range from $25,755 to $34,140.  slt trim, available on extended cabs and crew cabs, adds automatic dual-zone air conditioning, leather upholstery, power-adjustable bucket seats with heat and memory, floor console, heated outside mirrors, new gen6 onstar telecommunications and 17-inch aluminum wheels. The 5. 3-liter v8 is standard, with a higher-performing, all-aluminum 5. 3 in 4wd extended cabs. Denali comes with tone-on-tone leather, extra sound deadening, a bose audio system with separate controls for rear-seat passengers, and other exclusive amenities. It's equipped with steering wheel controls for the audio system, gen6 onstar, trip computer, and other programmable functions. Quadrasteer reduces sierra's curb-to-curb turning diameter by 26 percent and enhances high-speed stability. It comes packaged 1,995) with a limited-slip differential, heavy-duty brakes and clearance lights. walkaroundthe front styling of the gmc sierra ties it closely to the mid-size gmc envoy, and to some of the great gmc pickups of the past. The chrome-framed grille consists of three black horizontal bars that prominently display a big red gmc emblem. Chromed front bumpers include two airflow cutouts. Up-level models have a body-colored lower front fascia; base models have a light-charcoal fascia. An optional grille/brush guard adds front-end protection. A single onstar roof antenna combines the gps and cell-phone functions.  compared with the chevrolet silverado, gmc's styling is more conservative, more mature, with smoother, more sophisticated lines. Its chromed mesh grille looks like something from a hot-rod shop. Projector-beam headlamps and unique front fascia and fog lamps add up-market distinction, along with body color on the door handles, side moldings, tailgate handle, outside mirrors, rear bumper and tonneau cover. Chrome running boards with integral mud guards further distinguish the denali from other sierras.  for 2005, nearly all sierras come with 17-inch wheels: painted steel on work trucks, chromed steel on base and sle, aluminum on slt and polished aluminum on denali. The only exceptions are the 1500hd and the hybrid, which make do with 16-inch rims. Denali models are available with 20-inch wheels for a stronger styling statement.  the load height (the distance from the ground to the bed) for 2wd sierra models is just 31. 6 inches. For 4wd models, it's 33. 7 inches. The frame rails are hydroformed, a process that uses high-pressure hydraulics to shape relatively large steel components. Tubular crossmembers and roll-formed mid-rails increase rigidity further. This stiff structure enhances handling and ride quality immensely, while improving crashworthiness. interiorthe gmc sierra cab remains among the roomiest in the industry, with large door openings to aid entry and exit. The seats are big and cushy. Other pickup owners find the gm seats more to their liking. Also, the interior door handles are ropey and awkward.  the instrument cluster features highly legible gauges with white backlighting and orange pointers. The denali's gauges are unique and feature blue backlighting and white pointers. A driver information center reports on as many as 27 vehicle functions with an easy-to-read, single-line lcd display. A compass is incorporated into the overhead console, along with three storage areas for sunglasses, garage door opener, and small items.  audio and climate controls are sophisticated, yet easy to operate. The system comes with am, fm1, fm2, xm1, and xm2 bands. Steering wheel-mounted audio controls (on slt and denali) make it easy to switch among station presets and modes. Onstar is the leading provider of in-vehicle safety, security and information services in the uni. 2012 chrysler 300 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Whether v6 or v8 and regardless of model it's a roomy, comfortable, quiet cruiser. Some new models have joined the lineup for 2012: a stylish chrysler 300s, the new chrysler 300c luxury series, and a new chrysler 300 srt8 super-sedan.  the chrysler 300s is a sportier 300, with 20-inch wheels and firmer suspension.  2012 chrysler 300 v6 models offer a new 8-speed automatic transmission from zf that makes the hemi v8-powered car nearly irrelevant. With this new transmission, the v6 gets an epa-estimated 31 mpg highway.  a new, optional navigation system is the best we've ever seen, with a large, 8. 4-inch screen that's easily understood at a glance and easy to operate. We highly recommend opting for it. Also new for 2012 are the usual assortment of color and wheel design upgrades, and not one but new sound system upgrades.  the chrysler 300 has all the heritage traits of an american luxury sedan such as room, comfort, endless features and amenities, power and a degree of presence, yet is also has good road manners, stops and changes directions as well as it goes. It also has a distinctive look ever harder to find in this era of economy-driven aerodynamics, pedestrian impact standards and corporate styling.  all-wheel drive is available. The ride height on 2012 chrysler 300 awd models is slightly lower than on 2011 models.  the chrysler 300 comes in nearly any combination of v6 or v8 engine, 5- or 8-speed automatic, and rear- or all-wheel drive.  the 2012 chrysler 300 srt8 model comes packed with a 470-hp 6. 4-liter v8 (only a corvette zo6's is larger), brembo brakes, forged alloy wheels, and bilstein adaptive dampers similar to those maserati uses. It's quick and good bang for the buck.  consideration for the chrysler 300 covers a wide spectrum including the cadillac cts, lincoln mks, lexus gs, infiniti m, hyundai genesis, volvo s60, bmw 3 series by price or 5 series by size, and mercedes c and e classes for the same criteria. A 300c awd can compete with ford's taurus sho. At about $47,000, the srt8 is a cost-effective sports sedan alternative to cadillac's cts-v, bmw's m-cars and mercedes-benz's amg e-class. Available for any 300 are ivory pearl paint 500) and an engine-block heater 40). (all prices are manufacturer's suggested retail prices, which do not include destination charge and may change at any time without notice.)  chrysler 300 limited 32,170) upgrades to leather upholstery, 8-speed automatic, remote start, fog lamps, 18-inch wheels, 276-watt alpine audio system, power passenger seat, and heated front seats. Chrysler 300 limited awd 34,320) features all-wheel drive, bigger brakes and 19-inch wheels. The luxury group 3,250) includes fancier leather, olive wood trim, heated/cooled front seats and cupholders, heated rear seats, wood and leather wrapped heated power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, power adjustable pedals, driver memory system, power rear sunshade and auto-dimming exterior mirrors. A safetytec package 2,420) adds adaptive cruise control with collision warning, adaptive bi-xenon smartbeam headlamps, blind-spot and cross-path detection, rain-sensing wipers, front and rear park sensors, and rear fog lamps.  chrysler 300c 38,170) and 300c awd 40,320) come with a 363-hp 5. 7-liter v8, 5-speed automatic and bigger brakes. Standard equipment mirrors the 300 limited with luxury group and navigation, but with olive wood optional. Also available: premium audio systems, safetytec package, moonroof, 19 and 20-inch wheels.  chrysler 300s comes with a choice of v6 8-speed automatic 33,170) with awd 35,320); v8 5-speed automatic 39,710) with awd 41,320). S denotes body-color trim with gloss-black grille and headlight trim, matte carbon and piano-black cabin trim, 300s logo on cloth (v6) or leather (v8) seats, and the beats by dr. The s v8 also gets rear sunshade, rain-sensing wipers, and performance-tuned steering. 300s options include uconnect with 8. 4-inch touch screen, garmin navigation, sirius travel link with real time traffic and sirius satellite radio 795).  chrysler 300 srt8 47,170) comes with a 470-hp 6. 4-liter v8, five-speed automatic, 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, bilstein adaptive damping, and unique suspension and stability control calibration, brakes and tires. It also includes new nose and tail sections, sport seats with suede inserts, srt-specific instrumentation and driver information, and a one-day driving experience on track with professional driver instruction. Srt8 carries a $1,000 federal gas guzzler tax.  safety equipment on the chrysler 300 includes front, front side, driver knee, and side curtain air bags, electronic stability control with brake assist, and tire pressure monitoring system. The optional safetytec package groups several safety features together. Optional all-wheel drive improves stability in slippery conditions. walkaroundthe front of the chrysler 300 looks like a large sedan version of the chrysler 200 midsize sedan and town & country minivan, with many of the same visual cues in the grille, headlamps, air intakes and front bumper. It's much sleeker and more rounded at the nose, but carries a much lower aerodynamic drag coefficient because of the rounded elements and the very laid-back windshield angle. Neither the windshield nor the rear window carries any bright moldings at all, unusual for a luxury car, but it works on the 300.  on the s and srt versions a gloss-black grille and headlight housings framed against monochrome bodywork; it's hard to imagine understated and menacing applied to the same car but that's how it looks. Add in big dark wheels and the s and srt versions deliver the aggressiveness of an amg e-class or cadillac cts-v with more elegant machinery like a bentley gt. We have mixed feelings about the styling, especially that of the 300 srt8. It looks like an upscale hot rod, but we're not sure it quite pulls it off. The styling seems to work best on the standard models.  the profile of the chrysler 300 shows pronounced wheel lips front and rear, and they are connected by a sharp body line that starts at the trailing edge of the front wheel well and rises continuously to finish at the side of the tail lamps. That line, coupled with the larger side windows, narrower pillars, and another sculpted line at the bottom of the doors, does wonders to slim down and muscle up the look of the 300.  at the rear, there's a chrome bar running across the bottom edge of the decklid between the new vertical led taillamps and a tall, flat rear bumper between the exhaust outlets that widens the look of the car at the rear. The execution of the led daytime running lights at the front and the led rear lamps is excellent. The s and srt have deeper panels and a lip spoiler for stability. One of the more pleasant surprises in the chrysler 300 is the amount of light entering the car.  the interior environment is classy without being fussy, and the led lighting and instrumentation are spot-on. Upholstery can be cloth, leather, or suede and leather on srt8 and trim is faux wood, real wood, carbon-fiber or piano black lacquer style; interior adornment is generally matte-finish chrome so annoying reflections are minimal.  the instrument panel contains a bright gauge package, with crisp graphics and ice-blue accent lighting that is brilliantly legible day or night.  the center stack is dominated by a large (8. 4-inch) touch-screen control system, with audio and climate functions. Optional is a brilliantly colorful, large-icon garmin navigation system. This system, because of its size, graphics, and capabilities, may be the best all-around nav system currently available, easy to read, easy to use, and often readable from the back seat. We highly recommend it. Turn onto beaver brook road and in big type at the top of the screen it says, 'driving on beaver brook road.' we love it.  the 300's new fo. The front seats are as sporty and comfortable as any we've found in that class, and feature Toyota's Advanced Whiplash Injury-Lessening (WIL) design, supporting the upper body from head to lower back.  The wheelbase is 98.8 inches, a fraction longer than the Ford Fiesta, Honda Civic and Mazda 2, but a fraction shorter than the Chevy S. Like all new cars nowadays, the new body uses an impact-absorbing structure with high-strength steel to better distribute collision forces
